TMCnet Blog: “xG Technology Making Progress”

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

TMCnet logo TMCnet Blog: xG Technology Making ProgressxG Technology has been featured in a TMCnet blog post entitled xG Technology Making Progress.

TMCnet CEO Rich Tehrani authored the piece and pointed to recent news items from xG, including the signing of a Teaming Agreement with integrator Force 3, and the $15 million sale of the Broward and Dade counties territory for the exclusive right to deploy xMax.

Said Rich Tehrani, "A few years back I was literally excoriated for even considering the idea that the company had viable technology. It seems based on recent progress the company has more supporters than detractors. Many of these detractors were quite hostile actually and attacked me directly – for basically recording in video and words what I saw with my own eyes (here is a link to many of the company's videos – many made by myself and TMC)."

xG Signs Teaming Agreement with Military and Federal Government Provider Force 3

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

force 3 xG Signs Teaming Agreement with Military and Federal Government Provider Force 3xG Technology has announced that it has signed a Teaming Agreement with Force 3, Inc. a Crofton, Maryland-based technology integrator and solutions provider.

xG has been selected by Force 3 to be a named strategic partner in the proposal Force 3 will submit under the ITES-3H (Information Technology Enterprise Solutions-3 Hardware) contract awards process. The Army will issue its RFP (Request for Proposal) in February 2012, and the award will be announced in the summer of 2012.

If Force 3 is awarded the US Army ITES-3H contract, xG's xMax cognitive radio solutions and services will be used to fulfill the cellular wireless component of the award. The xMax cognitive radio solution was deployed earlier this year in six-month field trials conducted by the US Army, as well as by technicians in the Army Research laboratory. Army evaluators reported the xMax system "performed as advertised."

In addition to providing xG prospective customers with a streamlined procurement path for obtaining its products, the Agreement will give xG the opportunity to benefit from joint marketing activities with Force 3, as well as access to other Force 3 strategic value chain partners.

If chosen to fulfill the award by the Department of the Army, Force 3 will serve as the prime contractor and xG would enter into a formal subcontractor agreement with Force 3 to supply and deliver xMax products and services in fulfillment of the contact.

Force 3 has a proven history with the Department of Defense, having provided it with products, services and support to nearly 150 locations around the world since 1991. Force 3 is a Cisco Gold Partner, VMware Premier Partner, and Velocity Advantage and Authorized Services Network Partner for EMC Corporation.

xG To Exhibit and Present at NTCA Wireless Symposium and Expo

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

NTCA Wireless Symposium 20121 xG To Exhibit and Present at NTCA Wireless Symposium and ExpoxG Technology will be an exhibitor and presenter at the 2012 NTCA Wireless Symposium and Expo, which is being held in New Orleans, LA Jan. 11-13, 2012. The event is produced by NTCA (the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association) and RTG (Rural Telecommunications Group), and is the premier wireless conference for rural telco service providers and vendors from across the nation. xG will be exhibiting in booth #39.

George Schmitt, Chief Executive Officer of MB Technology Holdings, LLC (the parent company of xG Technology), has been invited to be a featured speaker on a panel discussion during the event. The session, entitled "Next-Generation Mobile Technologies for Rural Communities," will address emerging wireless technologies and deployment strategies in the rural space. The panel discussion will take place on Friday, Jan. 13 from 9:45 to 11:00 AM.

Recap: xG Presentation at Software Defined Radio Conference

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

xG was represented by Rick Rotondo at SDR ’11 – WinnComm (The Wireless Innovation Forum Conference on Communications Technologies and Software Defined Radio) in Washington, DC last week. Rick took part in a three-person panel discussion about the commercial potential of TV White Spaces. The session was well-attended and well-received.

The panel was moderated by noted wireless industry analyst Craig Mathias of Farpoint Technologies. Craig also added a post to his Nearpoints blog about the event. He made specific reference to the importance of employing cognitive radio technologies in conjunction with geolocation databases in White Spaces.

Craig prepared a white paper last year entitled Redefining Cellular Infrastructure:Cognitive Radio and Unlicensed Spectrum in which he stated that the availability of carrier-class cellular capabilities based on cognitive radio technology like xG's xMax "changes the mobile communications game to a remarkable degree."

xMax Cognitive Radio System Featured in Andrew Seybold White Paper

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

image for blog3 xMax Cognitive Radio System Featured in Andrew Seybold White PaperThe xG Technology xMax cognitive radio system has been featured in a White Paper just published by Andrew Seybold. Titled New Approaches To Optimizing Radio Spectrum, the paper discusses the need to better utilize our existing radio spectrum assets, and the game-changing technologies that are currently entering the market to address this need. xG's xMax is cited as a cognitive approach that surpasses others that have been developed and represents a truly intelligent network.

Mr. Seybold is CEO and Principal Analyst of Andrew Seybold, Inc., and is one of the most respected and influential analysts in the wireless industry today. He is also a longtime expert in the Public Safety and rural telecom sectors. He is a frequent speaker at leading industry events such as CES and CTIA shows

Among the key points made in the White Paper:

– Spectrum is a finite resource that needs to be managed differently than it has been in the past. New approaches and new ways of sharing spectrum must be found and implemented while assuring the best possible communications on an as-needed, where-needed basis.

– Only recently have technology advancements in computing power and other aspects of the technology become affordable. Companies such as xG Technology have been able to rethink what cognitive radio is and how it should work, and then approach the solutions from an end-to-end systems angle.

– xG Technology’s xMax network architecture is intelligent, elegant, and provides affordable ways of implementing, as well as enhancing, voice and in the near future, data networks. It has been designed from the ground up as an end-to-end solution and the intelligence is shared both within the network and in the devices at the edge of the network

Links to this white paper, as well as others that have spotlighted the xMax cognitive radio network solution, can be found at this link to the xG Technology website.

xG Featured in Military & Aerospace Electronics

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

military aerospace xG Featured in Military & Aerospace ElectronicsxG Technology has been featured in an article that appeared in Military & Aerospace Electronics titled xMax Network Hopes to Provide Secure Radio for Soldiers.

The article emphasizes that xMax represents an absolutely different type of wireless communication. The xMax network operates on a series of frequencies, which happens by assigning it a swath of frequencies. Currently, the system uses the 902-928MHz band. However, the network is spectrum agnostic, and capable of using any available frequencies.

Unlike other radios, xMax looks for interference. Its advanced interference-tolerant technology allows it to find open spaces in the spectrum and use them efficiently. In tests with the Army, all attempts to intentionally jam the xMax network using three different methods were unsuccessful. The network's ability to monitor and switch to unused frequencies made it too difficult for the Army's own jamming equipment to overcome it.

Due to be deployed in the summer of next year, xMax will give soldiers the information they need on the front lines.
